5 realistic Manchester United ‘transfer alternatives’ to Koke

Marco ReusIt’s another glum Monday for Manchester United fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern, as their dreadful start to 2014 continued with a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.

What was perhaps most concerning for United fans was that Chelsea were by no means at their best, and yet still ran out comfortable winners over David Moyes side.

The result has simply strengthened the idea that United need to add January reinforcements, and as soon as possible.

Reports today have suggested Moyes will have a transfer war-chest of £150 million to reshape the squad the best way he sees fit, although not a penny has been spent yet this month.

Many United fans believe the team is still paying the price for a summer spent dawdling in the transfer market, and the fact new players are still yet to arrive, coupled with the fact United have lost four out of their previous five games in all competitions, has got a lot of fans feeling anxious.

One face United fans expected to see paraded at an early January press conference, was that of Atletico Madrid playmaker Koke – with may claiming a deal was all but agreed.

But Moyes was dealt another transfer blow, with the news the 22-year-old has signed a new deal at Atletico, putting to bed any speculation linking him with a move to Old Trafford.

Although January business is looking unlikely at present for United, we have identified five realistic transfer alternatives to Koke for Moyes to consider.
