By the time 12:45 rolls around on Saturday lunchtime against Tottenham Hotspur, all eyes will be fixated at one man here on our large projector screens in the Football Transfer Tavern.
Jurgen Klopp is the talk of football, let alone the tavern at the moment following his high-profile appointment at Liverpool after Brendan Rodgers’ sacking and you can’t begrudge Reds fans getting a little carried away after what the German boss achieved over in the Bundesliga.
Securing back-to-back Budneslga titles with Borussia Dortmund on a budget to break the dominance of the mighty Bayern Munich, it was in those seasons that Klopp really built his reputation and many Liverpool fans are more excited about what the future will bring compared to only a few weeks ago.
Not in a disastrous situation by any stretch of the imagination right now, Liverpool are simply an animal that needs picking up while refocusing on what it is that they can realistically achieve this season.
New managers usually transmit an immediate feel-good factor to the camp and Liverpool need to go on a little run now and who knows, who force themselves back into the title reckoning with the league wide open this year and everybody having at least lost a single game so far.
While the Premier League is what every Liverpool fan craves having failed to land it in the modern era, we’re today devising five reasons why Jurgen Klopp can help Liverpool win the Champions League during his tenure at Anfield.

Because he boasts fantastic uniting qualities
While it’s rather cliché to say within football, particularly given the fact that any successful team is closely united with an almost us against the world mentality, this is truly what Jurgen Klopp installed at Borussia Dortmund during his time at Signal Iduna Park.
Taking over one of Germany’s biggest sides that were simply going through the motions prior to his appointment, Klopp used his fantastic motivational tactics to make that Dortmund side believe that they were as good as Bayern Munich and for that matter, anybody on the planet.
A similar restructuring of the mindset is also required at Liverpool right now with some members of this Reds squad having agonisingly missed out on the title back in the 2013/14 campaign, not to mention falling off in the race for the top four to become a Europa League side which they are at present.
Klopp seems like the perfect character to unite a dressing room with his charisma, passion and drive, and all of these will be needed in abundance during his time at Anfield.
Because he’ll sign higher quality players in the transfer market
One of the swords on which Brendan Rodgers fell upon during his time at Anfield was his failure to negotiate transfer windows so successfully.
In his time at Anfield, it has only really been Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho who could really claim to have totally made it work on Merseyside beside the former player’s injury troubles but in comparison to those two, there have been many failures of signings such as Iago Aspas, Fabio Borini, Mario Balotelli, Dejan Lovren and more.
Somebody who should bring about a mentality shift in who exactly the Reds should be signing in future windows is Jurgen Klopp who has fared far better in the market in the years gone by.
One of those managers who has turned the likes of Shinji Kagawa, Mats Hummels and Robert Lewandowski into superstars, his record is there for all to see and having proved such a pivotal part in these players’ development, not to mention others, perhaps it is the likes of Hummels or Reus that Klopp will be targeting going forward.
And lets have it right, signing better players proves the bedrock on which future success and potentially the Champions League can be delivered.
Because he plays an attacking brand of football
In the modern day, it’s clear that you’re either a progressive and expansive kind of manager or one that pays equal attention to the defensive side of the game and bus parking tactics as well.
While Jose Mourinho and Diego Simeone most definitely belong to the latter category, Jurgen Klopp is an advocate of attacking football and say what you want about Brendan Rodgers’ sides but his team of the 2013/14 campaign played some of the best Premier League football seen at Anfield in the last decade or so.
In brutal honesty, Reds fans would love to see an attacking brand of football remain but it’s just the defence that has let them down on too many occasions in recent years so while they’d like to pay significant attention to improving their backline, this mustn’t be at the cost of disillusioning their attacking principles.
In his time at Dortmund, we saw Klopp piece together an attacking front line that boasted Marco Reus, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Lewandowski prior to his Bayern move so no Liverpool fan should have reservations over how Klopp’s side will be playing going forward.
Because his ambition & charisma breeds positivity
As alluded to on our first slide, Jurgen Klopp is an incredibly colourful character who breeds positivity with his honesty and charisma.
In his first few days as Liverpool boss, the German has spoken about wanting to shift the club’s mentality into becoming a winning animal once again and when he speaks, you want to listen.
With most football fans hanging on his every word, let alone Liverpool supporters, Klopp will be respected by the players he’s set to take over and ultimately, things will be far less stale than they were in the latter days of Brendan Rodgers’ tenure.
The rebuilding process will start now and although he might not have stated his ultimate goals for the rest of the 2015/16 campaign yet, he’ll know that finishing in the top four and getting Liverpool back into the Champions League as soon as possible will help him sign better players while raising the expectations of the club and what have you.
Because if Brendan Rodgers can nearly win the Premier League…
A rather tongue-in-cheek reason but you get where we’re going with it, right?
Football is a funny old game because nobody could’ve initially believed Brendan Rodgers would be the closest Liverpool manager to win the Premier League in the modern era after arriving as a manager who some believed was too small-time for the role.
If the Northern Irishman could get the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez firing on all cylinders back in 2013/14, surely Jurgen Klopp will be able to get the best out of this Liverpool side in his own signature way.
We all love football because it’s unpredictable so in four years’ time or so, who’s to say Liverpool can’t be back in the Champions League’s latter stages where they’ve been so many times in their glittering European history?
