It’s no secret that Jose Mourinho is in the running for the Manchester United job.
The rumours were quick to start immediately after he was sacked from Chelsea.
For months now Mourinho has been parading around telling everyone that he is certain to take over at United this summer.
Van Gaal denies the reports that he is set for an exit this summer, and United upper staff have been quick to back their current manager.
However, they have said nothing regarding the Mourinho situation.
Sir Alex Ferguson, who still has much say at Old Trafford, lauded Pochettino as the best manager in England back in February. Could we see a shock move for the Argentinian manager instead of Mourinho?
It’s not out of the question for a club like Manchester United to steer clear of the not so stable ways of Jose Mourinho. Here are FIVE reasons why Manchester United should snub Mourinho and appoint Pochettino……

Youth Development
One of the most notable things about Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham side is the play from their youth.
Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Ryan Mason, Kieran Trippier and Eric Dyer have all impressed under the Argentinian manager.
While at Southampton, Pochettino helped in the development of Luke Shaw and Nathaniel Clyne into the players that they are today as well.
One of the biggest criticisms of Mourinho in his spells with Chelsea was that he could not turn youth players into first team players.
Pochettino could do a lot with all of the young talent that has stood out at United in the second half of this season.
Poised for long term success
Jose Mourinho saw his Chelsea side as one of the most dominant of sides in European football in the 2014/2015 campaign.
In only a season, we saw all of that success crumble.
By December he was sacked.
Can Mourinho create a system to see success on a consistent basis? After 20 years of Fergie, United fans need at least a top four finish year after year.
Pochettino is much more likely to see consistent success looking at his time with Southampton and now in two years with Spurs.
Style of play
Another criticism that Mourinho’s championship teams often faced was their boring style of play.
They got the job done, won many games and eventually the title, but that’s not what fans at Old Trafford want.
Pochettino has created an aggressive machine in the Tottenham attack.
Kane, Alli, Eriksen and Lamela are fast paced on and off the ball.
The Argentinian’s style mirrors that of Sir Alex Ferguson more than Mourinho’s.
Player Relations
Another advantage Pochettino has over Mourinho is the relationship with his players compared to the Special One.
The Portuguese manager has seen much success in his coaching career, but every season seems to come with negativity.
If United sign Mourinho to a contract this summer, there’s a handful of player sure to leave.
Juan Mata is unlikely to stay in a Mourinho coached side.
The Spaniard was Chelsea’s Player of the Year in back to back years before the Special One’s arrival.
Mata rode the bench under Mourinho until he was sold in January to United.
Although he’s established himself as one of United’s most creative players, the Special One will most likely sell him.
Good relationship with club execs
Those in the upper staff of Chelsea commented on the toxic nature of the club that Mourinho created.
It played a role in the decision to sack the Portuguese manager.
That’s just what you get with a firecracker manager like Mourinho at the head of your club.
Good talent, but major implosions like we saw in the first half for Chelsea.
Pochettino has no history of this and has been revered by the boardrooms of both Southampton and Tottenham in his time in England.
