Liverpool resume Premier League action this weekend, with their season all but over.
Brendan Rodgers side are relying on the two Manchester giants to stumble horrifically over the final five matches of the season if they are to make the top four, whilst last Sunday’s woeful defeat to Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi final has ended any hopes of a trophy and a proper send off for Steven Gerrard.
Rodgers has come out fighting this week, insisting he is still the best man for the job at Anfield, and reckons he will be given money to spend to ensure next season is one to remember.
His signings last summer were questionable to say the least, and many Liverpool fans are unconvinced he is the man to be trusted with more cash.
Here we have offered a helping hand and identified five signings who would reinvigorate the Reds next season.

Alexandre Lacazette
Brendan Rodgers has called for Liverpool to be stronger in the transfer market, and do more to land some more established players.
Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette may only be 23 years old, but he has enjoyed an outstanding season in Ligue 1 which has seen him score 25 goals and provide six assists in just 29 appearances this season.
Able to play anywhere across a front three or in a more withdrawn number 10 role, he would be the ideal signing for the Reds this summer.
James Milner
Rodgers also says he wants to add more experience to his young squad, and Manchester City’s James Milner can offer plenty of that.
The England international is out of contract at the Etihad this summer, and free to move on a bosman.
Whilst that is appealing to the Reds given they look set to miss out on the cash injection that comes with Champions League football, the fact Milner offers hard work and versatility would also make him a valuable asset to Liverpool – especially as they will be without Steven Gerrard for the first time in 16 years from the start of next season.
Theo Walcott
Regardless of whether Raheem Sterling stays at Liverpool this summer, Theo Walcott would be a fine signing.
The England man is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract with Arsenal, and there is no indication yet he is willing to sign a new deal.
Like Lacazette, Walcott is able to play in a number of attacking roles, and would offer Liverpool some of that pace they have been missing so often this season.
Walcott is desperate to prove himself as a central striker, and with it clear Daniel Sturridge cannot be counted on due to his fitness issues, he would get plenty of chances to do just that at Anfield.
William Carvalho
Liverpool have a gaping hole to plug in their midfield when Gerrard eventually departs for LA Galaxy at the end of the season, and Rodgers will have no doubt been busy identifying targets since the announcement was made in January.
Sporting Lisbon William Carvalho is believed to be high on his last of targets, with the 22-year-old having impressed at both club and international level over the past couple of seasons.
Manchester United, and Arsenal have also been linked with the all-action midfielder, but it is Liverpool who are in the most desperate need of his talent.
If the Reds were to pip their domestic rivals to his signature this summer, it would give everyone at the club a much needed boost.
Moussa Sissoko
The Frenchman has been one bright spark in what has been another dismal season for Newcastle United. The Magpies find themselves in a mess on and off the pitch, and Sissoko is likely to want out this summer.
Liverpool are in need of someone in that midfield area capable of getting up and down the pitch, with Jordan Henderson having done the work of three players for much of this season,
Sissoko has ability defensively and going forward, and would be an affordable option for the Reds to explore.
