With it being mathematically impossible for Tottenham Hotspur to emulate the 69 points they accumulated in last season’s final Premier League standings under Tim Sherwood, our resident Spurs fans know there is plenty more work to be done in Mauricio Pochettino’s White Hart Lane rebuilding job.
While most managers in the top half of the table begin a new season with the intention to win the league, for Spurs, getting in the top four to qualify for the Champions League has been their sole aim for a while now and this objective will again prove the aim next time round in 2015/16.
With Harry Kane having enjoyed an incredible breakthrough season, Spurs fans would like to see their academy graduate being joined by some star studded attacking options given the fact that Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado are well, Adebayor and Soldado.
With plenty of additions to be made in defence and midfield as well, today we are concentrating on five strikers who could help turn Spurs into that animal that avoids the Europa League spots and finishes a little higher up in the standings.

Javier Hernandez
With Real Madrid extremely unlikely to make the loan spell of the Mexican international permanent at the end of the season and Manchester United unlikely to welcome him back into the fold, Javier Hernandez will be looking for pastures new.
On Revista de La Liga recently, Spanish-based journalist Graham Hunter claimed Chicharito could be the difference for Valencia next season who are still looking to secure Champions League football for next season on the final day in Spain this weekend although Sevilla could end up pipping them.
That said, Spurs could surely do with someone like Hernandez’s predatory talents. After all, Hernandez has struck 37 goals in 102 appearances for the Red Devils so far and in truth, this has been largely in a bit-part role.
Although we’re not saying he’d trump Kane as Spurs’ first choice option up top if playing with a lone front man, surely he’d receive more chances from the off at a team like Tottenham, in turn boosting his goal return.
Christian Benteke
Tottenham have been linked with a swoop for Christian Benteke for a little while now, stretching back to his initial hot vein of form in England when joining at the start of 2012/13 campaign.
Having lost his way under Paul Lambert, new Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood has brought the very best out of the Belgian once more who may well end up having a vital say in the forthcoming FA Cup Final against Spurs’ North London foes Arsenal.
Powerful, strong and boasting a keen eye for goal, Benteke has all the attributes required to succeed at White Hart Lane but prising him away from Villa Park will be no easy task with the former Genk man having shown loyalty to the West Midlands outfit when in all truth, he could’ve walked away already.
Fernando Llorente
Now officially a Champions League finalist with Juventus, in all truth, we are unlikely to see Llorente appear in the Berlin showpiece against Barcelona unless the Italian champions are trailing in the game late on, such is his super-sub tag with the Turin giants.
Llorente has been relegated to a bit-part role with the Bianconeri this term given the emergence of Spanish compatriot Alvaro Morata who has thrived under Massimiliano Allegri following his summer switch from Real Madrid whom he downed at the semi-final stage recently.
Given Llorente’s star has fallen since his days at Athletic Bilbao, not to mention the fact he finds himself on the bench more than he’d like at this stage in his career, perhaps Tottenham are the club to capitalise on this situation?
Back at the end of March, Metro claimed that Juventus are valuing Llorente at just £11 million; surely an acceptable fee for Daniel Levy and Spurs to shell out for the Spaniard’s talents.
Saido Berahino
Plundering his 13th and 14th Premier League strikes of the season against Chelsea in an unlikely 3-0 victory for West Bromwich Albion on Monday evening, Saido Berahino yet again displayed his ability to mix it against the very best of defences.
While his temperament off the field may still be in question, his ability on the field is undoubted.
Yet to figure for England at senior international level, Berahino did in fact make Roy Hodgson’s squad to face Slovenia back in November 2014 and is this feat alone that shows the progress he has made during his fledgling career at The Hawthorns so far.
Ruffling a few feathers earlier in the season for suggesting he may need to develop elsewhere, surely Berahino would have his sights fixed on joining an outfit like Liverpool or Spurs who would take him to that next level in his development.
English as well, Spurs fans would surely love the prospect of boasting England’s future front line in their ranks in the form of Kane and Berahino.
Stevan Jovetic
Remember him? A bit-part player in every sense at Manchester City, surely the Montenegrin international will be looking for a way out of the Etihad Stadium this summer?
Infamously culled from the Citizens’ Champions League squad to be replaced by winter transfer window signing Wilfried Bony back in February, surely this snub was the nail in the coffin for Jovetic’s City career?
In truth, we have only seen flashes of brilliance from Jovetic since he traded Fiorentina for City back in 2013 and with the forward unlikely to receive a regular berth up top with the likes of Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko in City’s squad too, the Montenegrin would benefit from joining an outfit like Tottenham.
Likely to receive more regular chances from the off at White Hart Lane, perhaps this is a deal Mauricio Pochettino and Spurs would be interested in pursuing.
