5 Tottenham players Pochettino must sell on this summer to move forward as a club

After a third place finish in the Premier League last season, Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait for August to roll around.

2016/17 promises to be one of the most competitive league seasons yet, and with Champions League football in the offing too, it’s an exciting time to be at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham’s young squad will be itching to improve on last year as they ran Leicester so close before fading away in the last few weeks, but with another season of experience there’s no reason why they can’t challenge again.

Mauricio Pochettino will have learned a lot too.

The Argentine will have a better idea of his squad and will now know who are surplus to requirements for next season. It’s an important transfer window as Spurs look to bring in the right players but equally it’s also time to get rid of some of the deadwood.

This in mind our landlord thinks this FIVE will be on their way from White Hart Lane……

Nabil Bentaleb

In 2014/15 the Algerian looked like he was going to be a permanent fixture in Spurs’ midfield for seasons to come.

However, injuries limited him to very few appearances in 2015/16 and it is hard to see now who he is going to push out of the starting line up.

Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele and Christian Eriksen aren’t going anywhere soon so it’s probably time Bentaleb moves on.

Ryan Mason

The same can be said of Mason.

The English midfielder has seen injuries blight his early career, and after looking like he was going to finally get a good run of games after 2014/15 Spurs’ midfield has shut him out.

The likes of Dele Alli and the aformentioned Dier are above him in the pecking order and so it’s time to go and prove his Premier League class elsewhere.

Son Heung-min

The South Korean hasn’t been at Spurs for long but hasn’t really done enough to deserve much longer.

Seen as someone to help share the goal scoring burden with Harry Kane the former Leverkusen man hasn’t lived up to this, and Spurs need a more reliable source of goals if they are to compete on all fronts next year.

Champions League football is a big attraction and Spurs should be able to bring in a better forward.

Nacer Chadli

Chadli looks decent enough when he gets a run in the side but it’s unlikely he’s going to get one at Spurs now.

A good player on his day he was one of Spurs’ most talented players going forwards, but the metioric rise of Dele Alli as well a Erik Lamela finding his feet have left the Belgian high and dry.

He can probably still cut it at this level but it won’t be at White Hart Lane and it’s time to move.

Clinton N’jie

N’jie has failed to force himself into the Spurs side and should also be moved on.

The winger looked an exciting proposition when he joined but hasn’t fulifilled this initial promise.

The club need players that are going to perform when called upon next season, and unfortunately for N’jie he won’t be able to provide this for the north London side.

Pochettino will have better players in mind for his position and this is why it’s time for a new club.
