Liverpool supporters were absolutely smitten over Mo Salah last season, with his relentless goal scoring obsession and dazzling slaloms enabling the club to march towards a Champions League final date with Real Madrid.
Salah was undoubtedly the individual star of the 2017/18 Premier League season. That Manchester City finished with 100 points on the board and Salah remained the standout individual speaks volumes about how unbelievable his performances were.
Maintaining that level in consecutive seasons is notoriously challenging and Salah has fallen victim to that notion by failing to reach the dizzy heights he hit last season, even if his record of seven goals and four assists from 13 Premier League appearances suggests otherwise.
Following another lacklustre display from Salah against PSG, a fixture in which Sadio Mane looked considerably more menacing, we asked the Liverpool supporters if they believe the Senegal international is now worth more than Salah on current form, and the result was rather astonishing.
Indeed, a whopping 80% of polled supporters believe that Mane is worth more than the Egypt international at this moment in time.
The 5’9″ ace has looked lively all season and he was the man who got the Reds back in the game against PSG by winning a penalty just before half-time, but the verdict is rather surprising even with that in mind.
It seems that the supporters have become too wrapped up in forming comparisons between the Salah of last season and the Salah of this season as, if you put his current form into context, he remains one of the most scintillating attackers in Europe.
Perhaps the result is merely an indication of how highly Mane is regarded at Liverpool, rather than a damning swipe at Salah.
