On loan Manchester United winger Antony has hinted at a permanent departure from the club, stating he is happy at Real Betis and admitting his future is unclear at the moment.
The 25-year-old finds himself surplus to requirements at United, having only managed four substitute appearances in the Premier League this season. He joined Betis on loan in January where he has enjoyed a bit of a revival – scoring nine goals and adding five assists across 26 appearances in all competitions.
His time with the club ended in heartbreak however, with Betis suffering a heavy 4-1 defeat to Chelsea in the Europa Conference League final on Wednesday.
As reported by Sky Sports, Antony spoke to CBS Sports after the loss, issuing an an update on his future.
“I don’t (know) what will happen in the future, only God knows,” he said.
“My work is playing and I’m doing that well. I have a lot of affection for Betis, for everyone but I have a contract with Man United and I don’t know what’s going to happen, only they know what’s happening.
“Now I will go to the national team and then on holiday then we will see what happens in the future.”

“I’m very happy here, everyone knows that. I went to sleep and I woke up happy but I have a contract and I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
The loan agreement between United and Betis did not include a permanent option, so the player is due to return to United this summer. United are expected to be open to offers for Antony as they try to recoup some of the £85 million they paid Ajax for him in 2022.
Betis are said to be keen on another loan move for Antony this summer, but a fresh deal will have to be worked out with United. Any deal will likely include a buy option, with the player’s current deal at Old Trafford set to expire in 2027.
Antony’s Europa Conference League final rival Jadon Sancho is another Manchester United loanee expected to depart the club this summer. The two shared an embrace after the match in what could be the last time they share a pitch for the foreseeable future.
