If you’re a Rangers fan in the Transfer Tavern today, we’re advising you to keep your heads down after what was a pretty poor defeat to Celtic in the Glasgow derby this weekend.

The Gers struggled to cope with Celtic’s pace and power in the game at Paradise and for now, the Hoops remain the number one side north of the border.

Even the landlord here in the Tavern seems to think that Rangers might struggle to win the league now but let’s be honest, there’s a long way to go yet!

So, after the shoddy showing at Celtic Park, we thought we’d do our best to try and cheer up the Ibrox faithful who may be feeling a little down after the 5-1 defeat.

Paddy Power loves a troll and when Rangers manager Mark Warburton was a linked with a move to Fulham last season, it’s safe to say some Gers fans weren’t impressed.

When Gary, a suspected Rangers fan tweeted Paddy suggesting their manager won’t leave the best team in Scotland, he wasn’t prepared for the savage response we’ve come to expect from the social media maestros.

After the bitter loss on Saturday, you could always see Celtic fans trolling Gers in their masses, so when Joey Barton tweeted his disappointment at the result after the game, you can only expect some of the responses.

In what was one of the more bizarre transfer rumours this summer, no-one was expecting it when Henrik Larsson’s son was linked with a move to Ibrox.

We’re pretty sure the former Celtic hero had green and white in his blood and his son wasn’t impressed when he heard the news. This is quite amusing because we reckon Rangers fans would have had something to say about it too…

7. Gers fans respond to the Larsson rumours

As we’ve just said, it seems like everyone was pretty amused when Jordan Larsson was linked with a move to Ibrox, least of all the Rangers fans.

As you could imagine, there were plenty of tweets to choose from in response to Larsson’s dismissal of the club, but this one from CN wins for us.

Maybe a move could be on the cards in a few years Jordan.

When former Manchester United man Robin Van Persie was strangely linked with a move to Ibrox this summer, it’s safe to say Twitter went into meltdown.

He could have been a huge signing for Gers and some of their more optimistic supporters were getting seriously excited.

Rangers Chief Executive Graham Wallace undertook a Question and Answer with fans back in 2014, it was always going to end with seriously hilarious responses.

Gers fans were angry about how the club was being run and with Wallace using the hashtag #ReadyToListen, they began to tweet back in their droves.

Another one that has come about after the derby-day defeat on Saturday, we like this tweet about Joey Barton going missing.

A canny Celtic supporter has made a police enquiry after he reported the Rangers man as “missing” following his poor display at Celtic Park on Saturday.

Pretty funny stuff but as we know, Joey isn’t missing and was busy grovelling on social media after the bitter defeat. Enjoy.

Another Paddy Power special and a recent one too. Request-a-bets are all the rage these days and when a Rangers fan cheekily tweeted Paddy to ask what the odds would be for Rangers to win the league if Celtic weren’t there, we got a pretty funny response.

All we need to do now is find a way to stop Celtic’s existence between now and May.
