Leeds United supporters in the Transfer Tavern are quickly turning their attentions to their Championship campaign today after seeing the Whites lose 3-1 at Leicester City last night in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
Thomas Christiansen’s men edged past Premier League side Burnley in the previous round to book their place in the last 16, and they harboured ambitions of going even further when Pablo Hernandez fired them into a 26th minute lead. However, the Foxes hit back emphatically with goals from Kelechi Iheanacho, his first for the club, Islam Slimani, and Riyad Mahrez to seal a second successive victory for caretaker boss Michael Appleton, and in turn keep their quest for a fourth League Cup title firmly on track.
For Leeds though, their wait for a first major trophy since their 1992 First Division title goes on, but several of our resident Whites fans are already focusing on their side’s massive Yorkshire derby on Friday night against Sheffield United, who sit a place and four points above Christiansen’s men in the Championship table.
However, two men are unlikely to get a start at Elland Road based on their efforts last night at the King Power Stadium, namely Pawel Cibicki and Jay-Roy Grot.
Both men made the move to Leeds during the summer but neither did their first team chances much good at all in Leicester on Tuesday night, with neither man really doing enough in the game to warrant a starting berth this weekend.
And many Leeds fans took to Twitter to hammer the duo for their performances on Tuesday…
Cibicki & Grot were poor tonight for Leeds.. Can’t see them lasting long at the club #lufc #mot

Not seen anything significant from Jay Roy Grot since his debut, I wasn’t wrong. Not ready for 1st team. #lufc

Decent effort, but lost the grip second half. Pablo excellent all game. Cibicki & Grot a long way from what’s needed at the moment #lufc pic.twitter.com/TuiY3Urgx2

The signing of Cibicki puzzles me. I don’t see what he brings to the team. #lufc

Time for Cibicki to make way for someone who wants to touch the ball, I reckon…. #lufc
