Having missed out on Javier Pastore to AS Roma, West Ham and Manuel Pellegrini have now fully turned their attention towards Lazio winger Felipe Anderson.
If a deal can be agreed with Lazio, Anderson will become the club’s fourth signing of the summer. £35m seems like a lot of money, but the 25-year-old is the type of player West Ham’s squad currently lacks.
Manuel Lanzini’s long-term injury means Pellegrini is severely lacking genuine quality in the attacking positions and, even before Lanzini damaged his ligaments in training with the Argentina World Cup squad, the former Manchester City manager seemed intent on strengthening his forward line.
Despite not always being in the starting XI at Lazio, the £27m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Anderson has been very productive during his time in Italy, and his overall goal contribution is something West Ham could desperately do with.
Other than Marko Arnautovic, it’s hard to see where goals are going to come from in that West Ham team. Although, under an attacking manager such as Pellegrini, Javier Hernandez could be someone, as well as Anderson, to help Arnautovic in front of goal.
Have a look at West Ham supporters’ thoughts on the latest development surrounding Anderson’s possible move to the London Stadium below…
I’m sorry but £44 million is a shambles. He’s not worth that much, I’d much rather spend it on someone like Bernard, Mario and Mawson. And get Wilshire for free and a few good looking loanees

Surely this has to be the last time the club cannot be blackmailed like this

This whole Felipe Anderson is starting to get really boring, hope we have back ups and don’t chase the whole summer on him to then have to panic last minute like we did with Bacca @davewalkersdcc @ExWHUemployee
