‘Absolutely no chance’ – Tottenham fans aren’t expecting 22-year-old to be at Spurs next season

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been refusing to get their hopes up over the potential signing of Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, despite a report in the Evening Standard that claims the Lilywhites are in the race to secure his signature. The Frenchman could be the versatile forward to share the goalscoring burden with Harry Kane that they’ve been looking for.

The last two seasons have seen Harry Kane bag a shed load of goals in the Premier League. The striker has scored 59 goals across the last two Premier League seasons as Spurs have secured back-to-back top-four finishes, guaranteeing them Champions League football, however, the club has failed both times to sign a forward player who can deputise for the prolific England man when needed, with both Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen flopping.

That’s where Anthony Martial comes in. The tricky winger can be deployed on either wing or up front and has a record for tearing up defences. Spurs have a long-standing interest in the Frenchman that stretches back to his Monaco days. Now though, with the winger out-of-favour under Jose Mourinho, a Spurs move could be perfect for Martial.

That being said, fans aren’t expecting him to arrive, even though most would love to see him at the club.

As you can see, the mood among the Tottenham fans is that these rumours have no substance to them as United won’t want to sell to a direct rival and the fee it would take to bring the 22-year-old in would be too much.
