Manchester United have agreed a deal with FC Porto to sign Alex Telles and the defender is set to undergo a medical before completing his move to Old Trafford, according to Sky Sports.
United had seen an offer of £15.4m for Telles rejected by Porto and were prepared to wait to sign him on a free transfer next summer if no deal is reached, with the Portuguese club holding out for a fee nearer the £22m mark, according to Sky Sports. However, it now seems that a significant breakthrough has been reached in the pursuit of the 27-year-old.

The Red Devils have been attempting to negotiate a deal with Porto for Telles in recent weeks and it was expected that talks were set to continue right until the closing stages of the transfer window, as per talkSPORT.
Do you think Man Utd will sign Alex Telles before the end of the transfer window?
Yes
No
The 27-year-old has been keen on making the move to Manchester United, but the Red Devils did inform him that they were prepared to wait until next summer to bring him in on a free transfer if Porto refused to budge over their stance on the defender, as per The Mirror.
Telles is a player with plenty of ability to get forward and be productive in the final third and also provide a solid defensive presence down the left-hand side. He has started the current campaign in good form, scoring twice and registering two assists already in just three league matches, along with winning two tackles and 6.7 duels per game. It’s not hard to see why United are so keen to sign the Brazilian, who was amongst Europe’s best attacking full-backs last term, scoring a highly impressive tally of 11 league goals whilst also registering eight assists. The 27-year-old also helped Porto to record 12 clean sheets and averaged 1.8 interceptions and 1.1 tackles per game in 2019/20, as per Sofascore.
United have missed a creative presence down the left flank at times and Telles would be able to perform a role similar to what Andrew Robertson does for Liverpool. The Red Devils finally look like they have done the right thing and got a deal sorted out and the 27-year-old will be an excellent addition.
