Things have not quite taken off for Sam Allardyce at Crystal Palace yet since he took over, and the club remain firmly involved in a relegation battle.

The Palace fans who have been filtering in through the Tavern of late have looked a miserable bunch, and they have every right to with the form their club is showing.

However, all is not lost, and in Allardyce they have a master motivator who knows full well how to get the best out of his players – something he has demonstrated throughout his career.

The Eagles manager will therefore be desperate to get some names in through the door before the transfer window shuts, and this would satisfy many of our fans over at the pool table who are desperate to see new signings.

With that in mind, here in the Transfer Tavern we have taken a look at TWO players Palace manager Allardyce need to try and seal last-minute deals for this January…

Lewis Dunk

Palace have been conceding goals for fun, and they might be best off trying to persuade the best centre half in the Championship to make the move to the Premier League early.

Dunk has been consistently superb for Brighton over a number of years now, and looks set to have a bright future in the game.

Should Palace make a move, he would come with a hefty fee, but it may be a fee worth paying for the big defender.

Daniel Sturridge

As well as stopping conceding, Palace also need to add more threat going forward.

Moving for Daniel Sturridge – who has lost his way at Liverpool massively – could be the sort of masterstroke that Allardyce is well known for pulling off.

The England striker might well be open to a move to secure regular first team football in the short or long term, and with Jurgen Klopp running out of patience with him, it might be time for him to move on.
