Rangers are continuing their recruitment drive this summer and look ready to line up another possible deal, which will likely please the fans in the Transfer Tavern.
New manager Steven Gerrard has been working hard behind the scenes since he was named Rangers boss last month, and is keen on rebuilding the squad he inherited from Graeme Murty this summer.
The Liverpool legend has looked at a number of positions that he feels needs strengthening and has identified the defence as an area of concern and, according to reports, he is considering a move for an experienced pro.
And that’s because The Daily Record are reporting that Gareth McAuley could be lined up for a move to Ibrox given that director of football Mark Allen has already made contact with the Northern Ireland international’s representatives.
It is thought that a one-year deal could be on the table for the 38-year-old, and with the defender thought to be keen on the move and out of contract at West Brom this summer, it’s a deal which could well take place during the close season.
Landlord’s Verdict: McAuley would be a great addition to the Light Blues this summer should they be able to lure him from Championship-bound West Brom.
Rangers are keen to add to their defensive ranks this summer and having been priced out of a deal for Martin Skrtel, yet the Baggies veteran would be a solid acquisition this summer that the locals in the Tavern will likely be delighted with.
