America 2026: long-term bets on the champions

From June 11 to July 19, the biggest sporting event of the year will take place on the pitches of the United States, Canada and Mexico. In this 1xBet Ireland review, we’ll talk about the main contenders for the coveted trophy.

The global brand’s experts believe that only six teams have a realistic chance of winning the title.

Spain – odds of 5.90*

Spain are the reigning European champions and the top favourites for the upcoming tournament. Luis de la Fuente’s team is made up of players who triumphed at Euro 2024 – these boys have what it takes to repeat their country’s success from 16 years ago. La Furia Roja has an excellent selection of young footballers who, despite their age, are already given key roles on the pitch. Fans have high hopes for Lamine Yamal (18 years old), Pau Cubarsí (19), Fermín López (22) and Gavi (21).

England – odds of 6.95

England were the runners-up in the last two Euros, but those achievements came under Gareth Southgate. The Three Lions are now managed by Thomas Tuchel, who previously only worked with clubs. The German coach has a wide selection of top-class players, enough to field two equally strong lineups. Most of the English players feature in the Premier League – the world’s strongest league – whilst stars Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane play for Real Madrid and Bayern Munich respectively.

Brazil – odds of 7.40

Brazil are always among the favourites in any tournament. However, for many years now, the Canarinho have failed to live up to expectations and have only disappointed their fans. The national confederation has entrusted the team to the legendary Carlo Ancelotti – the Italian commands enormous respect in club football, but this is his first time as head coach of a national team. The 66-year-old took charge of the Seleção on May 12 last year.

The Brazilians have several top-class players in every line. The coach’s task is to turn them into a well-coordinated unit.

France – odds of 7.50

France triumphed at the global football forum in 2018, and four years later reached the final, where they lost to Argentina only on penalties. Didier Deschamps’s side have the DNA of winners and consistently strong chances in every competition. The coach has announced that he will leave the national team after the North American tournament. A farewell on a high note would be most welcome. Les Bleus have an experienced, successful manager and at least two equally strong players in every position.

Argentina – odds of 9.70

La Albiceleste will arrive in North America to defend their title, having also won the last two Copa América tournaments. The team’s head coach, Lionel Scaloni, and its leader, Lionel Messi, have won every possible trophy at international level, but they have no intention of resting on their laurels. The Argentine squad features many experienced but ageing players. Perhaps this is why experts aren’t particularly confident about the team’s chances of success this time.

Portugal – odds of 10.20

The Portugal national team consists not only of the ever-ambitious Cristiano Ronaldo, but also Diogo Dalot, Nuno Mendes, Matheus Nunes, Bruno Fernandes, Rúben Neves, Vitinha, Bernardo Silva, Rafael Leão, Gonçalo Ramos and Pedro Neto. These players are in their prime and play for top clubs. Let’s also not forget the young António Silva and João Neves. With such a squad, they can aim for the top of the world. It’s clear that analysts have underestimated Roberto Martínez’s team, who, as dark horses, already won the Nations League last year.
