Arsenal ‘express interest’ in signing “excellent” England international

Arsenal had a strong England contingent representing the club at this summer’s World Cup.

Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke were all part of Thomas Tuchel’s squad, although their tournaments varied considerably.

Saka was one of England’s standout performers, contributing three assists, while Rice struggled to hit his usual heights and was often overshadowed in midfield by Elliot Anderson. Eze found opportunities limited, and Madueke endured a frustrating campaign.

Now, the Gunners have reportedly set their sights on adding another England international to Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Arsenal Interested In Ezri Konsa

According to The Guardian, Arsenal have expressed an interest in Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, who has previously been described as “excellent” by former Premier League striker Troy Deeney.

The Gunners are exploring defensive reinforcements following concerns over William Saliba, who suffered an injury during France’s World Cup semi-final defeat to Spain.

The Frenchman has been playing through a long-standing back problem, and Arsenal are expected to assess the severity of the issue before deciding on the next steps.

Konsa has emerged as one of the club’s leading options, with the versatile centre-back capable of providing reliable cover while also competing for a regular starting place.

The 27-year-old started six of England’s seven matches at the World Cup, impressing with his composure, positioning and ability to read the game before dropping to the bench for the semi-final defeat to Argentina.

Aston Villa are understood to value several of their key players highly this summer, meaning Arsenal would likely have to pay a significant fee if they decide to turn their interest into a formal offer.
