Silence fell in the Football Transfer Tavern yesterday when Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny was stretchered off during defeat at Manchester City.
Arsene Wenger may need to replace him in January, as reported by talkSPORT.
Arsenal were thrashed at City, conceding six goals in the process and Wenger has slated his defenders for their sub-par performances.
Koscielny’s injury is not thought to be as bad as first feared with the Frenchman expected to be out for weeks rather than months, but the Gunners may look at a new centre back in January to enable competitions for places.
Wenger was quick to criticise the defending of his whole team after such a successful start to the season in that area of the pitch.
“The defensive work we put in together from upfront to the back, I didn’t like it at all,” fumed Wenger.
“Until now it has been one of our strong points. That’s where we were very, very poor today. The defenders were too exposed.”

Ali, do you know anything about football, we are top of the league, so let’s sack Wenger! Arsenal had a poor game, there is plenty of time, to reassert ourselves in the league.

I think that reality is starting to kick in. Yes, Arsenal are top of the league but every time they play the teams most likely to win the PL they lose. The real concern is that it’s the same old problems that we’ve had for years that cause the losses. Our back four need more help when they are under pressure but they don’t get it. We still need a powerful midfielder like Toure and we’ve needed that since Viera left. If we lose against Chelsea it could be the start of our annual collapse.

I have always posited severally, that wenger’s rigid approach to sign quality players will damage the club. With Giroud (a support striker) as our point man, arsenal will remain trophy-less for the next 100 years. The likes of walcott, podolsky, benthnar, to mention but a few, are far better than giroud, his French man. Time will tell!
