Arsenal must seriously look at improving their defence in the summer if they are to compete for silverware once again, surely? Unai Emery has worked wonders with what he has available, however, things really need to change in the backline.
A number of his current defenders are certainly coming towards the end of their careers, whilst it appears one of those could be offered a chance to return home for the final few playing years he is likely to have left.

According to Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness), Barcelona are thought to be keen on bringing Nacho Monreal to the Camp Nou.
It is claimed the 33-year-old ‘fits the profile’ of what the La Liga outfit are looking for and it is understood the Spaniard would be happy to take up a substitutes role at the Catalan giants knowing he would not be the first choice for Ernesto Valverde.
The Verdict:
Monreal has been one of the better players within the Arsenal defence over the years, however, that does not really say too much compared to how bad the backline has been in the past. The Gunners have had a number of problems in defence and seriously need to consider improving it in the summer.
Despite being consistent in what he provides and offers the club, the summer could be the perfect opportunity to see him leave the Emirates Stadium and for Emery to try and bring in a replacement as he is not what he once was on the left-hand side of the defence.
Age has obviously caught up with the 33-year-old as he can not get as forward as he used to be able to, making the left wing seem to be lacking the additional threat that the Gunners would normally have and has drawn criticism for his recent performances from fans on social media.
However, he is still able to slot into a central role of a back three and has shown that he is capable of being rather solid in that position recently, which could give officials at Arsenal something to think about.
