Some Arsenal fans have heaped praise on defender Shkodran Mustafi for his performance during his side’s 0-0 stalemate against Burnley on Sunday.
The 27-year-old featured alongside David Luiz at the heart of the Gunners’ backline as Mikel Arteta’s side were forced to settle for a point at Turf Moor, leaving them with four consecutive league draw and just one win from their last six, as per Fotmob. Like marmite, Mustafi splits opinion. However, there were plenty of sympathisers who were encouraged by his Lancashire outing.
Statistics showed that Mustafi was defensively sound throughout. He made seven clearances and won seven aerial duels (according to SofaScore) despite the threat from the tall Burnley striker Chris Wood.
Supporters were delighted with his performance and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he was “outstanding” and added that he was “the only difference” in respect of Arsenal’s defence.
