Arsenal faced an unenviable midweek trip to face FK Qarabag in Azerbijan on Thursday evening for a Europa League clash which they comfortably won by 3 goals to nil.
With a trip to Craven Cottage to face Fulham on Sunday in the pipeline, Unai Emery fielded a weakened team against Qarabag but his second string eleven made light work of their opponents as they strolled to a 3-0 win.
Alex Iwobi was handed his second consecutive start in Europe on the left-side of an attacking midfield three, and he continued to demonstrate a marked improvement on his performances last season.
With a confident swagger beginning to creep into his game, Iwobi is living up to the potential which he was only able to showcase in sporadic bursts under Wenger’s leadership.
It’s becoming abundantly clear from the rising quality of his performances that Emery’s arrival has had a profound impact on his confidence and subsequently his form, and it’s fair to say the Arsenal fans are delighted by what they have seen from the Nigeria international so far this season.
A handful of supporters have made bold tongue-in-cheek comparisons to the likes of Neymar and his legendary compatriot Jay-Jay Okocha, but humour aside there is no doubt that the Gunners faithful are delighted with his form so far this season.
Here’s what the fans have had to say about Iwobi after his performance on Thursday evening…
Another impressive game by Iwobinho. Looking like Ronaldinho out there with the stepovers and nutmeg. With the form he’s in, should start ahead of Ramsey this weekend imo. Oh, also never try a back 3 again

Same here. I thought he would struggle against pace. But he has been a beast. Plus iwobi. He has stepped up big time.
