Konstantinos Mavropanos, whilst being one hell of a mouthful, is a quality defender. The Greek centre-back has everything he needs to be the next star at The Emirates and it’s becoming increasingly frustrating as his injury return date keeps being forced backwards.

The latest updates claim that the Greek defender should be back sometime in December. However, it seems like the Gunners have heard that about both October and November when it came to a return date for the youngster. Back then his return was less urgent but now it’s become a real issue as both Rob Holding and Shkodran Mustafi are sidelined and the club are thin on the ground in the way of centre-backs.
It looks like Unai Emery will be forced to splash the cash in January with a defender being his priority. However, with a number of players being touted as the next Gunners’ recruit, the fans would much rather just see Mavropanos making it back to fitness and be in contention for a start. There’s no doubting the youngster has the ability to step in, but whether his injury return allows it is another problem.

The Gunners can’t wait for the defender to return and will hope he can fill the gap at the heart of the club’s defence.
