Arsenal: Fans drool at throwback Nicolas Pepe goal versus West Ham United

Many Arsenal fans are drooling over Nicolas Pepe’s flashback goal against West Ham United away from home at the London Stadium back in December.

A replay of the goal posted by Arsenal’s official Twitter page showed the Ivorian cut in onto his favoured left foot and whip a curling effort from just inside the box into the opposite corner of the net. This goal was similar to his trademark finishes he used to produce for French club Lille before making the switch to the Emirates in the summer for a club-record £72 million (BBC Sport). It was later revealed that this payment would be made in instalments, so effectively Arsenal are paying around £20 million for his services this season.

The 24 year-old arguably did not hit the ground running at the north-London club under Unai Emery, where he only scored one Premier League goal, a penalty against Aston Villa at home where they won 3-2. His total stats on Transfermarkt read that the winger has scored six goals and provided eight assists in a total of 31 games for the Gunners this season, but most goal involvements have come post-Emery. He will be looking to add to his tally against West Ham United, especially if he can score more goals like the kind of goal he did in the reverse fixture.

These Arsenal fans were drooling over Pepe’s goal last time out, with one fan even calling the left-footed strike ‘the best flashback ever’:
