Many Arsenal fans were fuming on Twitter over the performance of attacking midfielder Joe Willock against League One side Portsmouth in the FA Cup round-of-sixteen last night.
The youngster gave the ball away 22 times according to SofaScore.com, the most of any player on the pitch. He also had the worst passing accuracy (68%) out of the entire Gunners team to have attempted one (Ainsley Maitland-Niles came on in injury-time and did not even have a touch of the ball). He could not manage a shot on target or an interception, qualities Mikel Arteta will be looking for in his regular first eleven.
Willock has not been able to dethrone Mesut Ozil in the central attacking midfield position recently in the Premier League or Europa League. He will need to produce better performances than he did at Fratton Park to break into the side.
