Arsenal: Fans hit out at Reiss Nelson after performance in draw over Standard Liege

Arsenal fans were hitting out at youngster Reiss Nelson for his performance in the draw against Standard Liege.

Nelson didn’t seem to play too badly yesterday as he had the joint-third most shots (2), played the second-most key passes (3), completed the joint-third most dribbles and was the joint-second most fouled player on the pitch (via WhoScored).

However, that didn’t stop this one fan from taking aim at the England under-21 international as he claimed the youngster was ‘overshadowed by his peers’.

Reiss-Nelson was overshadowed by his peers once again. Saka, ESR & Martinelli are all above him in the pecking order. I’ve been disappointed with him for a while now, he just doesn’t seem to have it.

Nelson has been out of favour for the Gunners this season, featuring in just eight of the 24 games across all competitions (via Transfermarkt).

Despite all his struggles, this season, interim head coach Freddie Ljungberg reckons that Nelson is the ‘future’ of the club (via Versus).

Fans weren’t too pleased with the performance of Nelson as they took to Twitter to tear into the youngster.
