Arsenal: Fans laud Shkodran Mustafi after performance in win over Olympiacos

Arsenal fans have been lauding Shkodran Mustafi after the German’s performance during the win over Olympiacos.

The centre-half was in brilliant form for the Gunners as he made the most tackles (3), the joint-second most interceptions (2) and the second-most clearances (3) for Mikel Arteta’s side. He proved to be monstrous in the air as he won a staggering six aerial duels, three more than any teammate (via WhoScored).

One fan believes Arteta has made Mustafi perform like Virgil van Dijk with the Arsenal man averaging more clearances per Premier League game than the Liverpool ace.

His recent form proves the club were right to hold on to the defender after he was linked with a move away from the club during the January transfer window. Turkish side Galatasaray were said to have been offered the £13.5m-rated, as per Transfermarkt, 27-year-old through an intermediary (via Turkish Football).
