Sam Allardyce has taken a lot of stick from a lot of Premier League and England fans over the years, His sacking as England boss was comical and left the FA with egg on their face, however, a lot of Arsenal fans on Twitter can’t fault this statement from the 63-year-old. Allardyce has claimed that if Arsenal have the best defensive record next season then they’ll come 1st or 2nd.

Sam Allardyce has said plenty of things in his time that a lot of fans have disregarded. His 100% win rate as England manager will go with him to the grave though and that’s not the only of note he’s got to his name. No other coach has managed more Premier League sides than Allardyce and he’s well placed to know what an English top-flight winning team look like, even if he’s never managed one.
What Allardyce is saying is true though, if Unai Emery’s Arsenal can improve their leaky defence then they have a very good chance of winning the Premier League, or at least returning to the top-four. Their Spanish gaffer has brought in five signings so far and with a new ‘keeper, right-back, centre-back and defensive midfielder being four of those you can see that Emery knows what he needs and is moving to act on it.
