Whilst Arsenal registered their first clean sheet of the season on Sunday, the fans still weren’t happy with how Shkodran Mustafi played and have been laying into the German on Twiter. Mustafi saw his centre-back partner, Sokratis Papastathopoulous go off injured just before half-time for Rob Holding and it seems both of the defenders put in a better shift than Mustafi.

There’s no doubting that the 26-year-old is trying his best when he pulls on the famous red and white shirt of Arsenal, but when you compare him to some of the club’s legendary centre-backs of the last few years he is honestly laughable. The German has definitely got some potential in him and he has a few years until he reaches his peak, but The Gunners are desperate to see something from him soon.
The money that it cost Arsene Wenger to bring Mustafi to the club doesn’t help his cause either and the blunders he’s made in his time at the club speak for themselves. The fans will be hoping he can come good under Unai Emery and that the Spaniard can coach him towards being one of the better defenders in the Premier League. For now, though, it looks like the fans will be wanting him dropped if he can’ improve quickly.

The fans are desperate to see Mustafi either step up or get dropped and it will be interesting to see whether he can pick his game up in the coming weeks.
