Arsenal fans on Twitter were delighted to see their side run out 3-0 winners at Bloomfield Road yesterday, especially seeing as the Gunners were treated to seeing some of their fringe players and younger talents afford the chance in the FA Cup. It was especially nice to see Carl Jenkinson shining, as he continues to be apart of Unai Emery’s plans.

Only recently has the 26-year-old defender come back into contention at the club, before-hand, in the final years under Arsene Wenger, the Gunners would have been forgiven for thinking that Jenkinson had been allowed to leave for a measly fee to a lower league club, or even released on a free at the end of his contract. However, that isn’t the case as the defender still resides at The Emirates.
Whilst the defender’s display yesterday was mostly uneventful and had nothing really to shout about, the travelling fans obviously felt it necessary to laud their right-back towards the end of the game. Chants of ‘Jenko is a Gooner’ could be heard from the away end at Bloomfield Road, and when the 26-year-old took to Instagram after the game to address the fans’ song, it led to plenty of supporters raving over their ever-present right-back.
You can read the Gunners’ thoughts on Jenkinson here:
We lost 3-1 at home to Bayern in the UCL in 2013. We needed to score three away to go through. We won 2-0 away but went out on away goals. That performance of Jenko at right back I will never forget. Cheers mate and continue loving the dream. I'm happy for you.

The Gunners love their right-back and whilst he’s not good enough to be starting ahead of Hector Bellerin, they love having him around as a second choice option.
