Arsenal fans were left annoyed, to say the least, after a rather poor showing by Henrikh Mkhitaryan in Sunday’s match with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
Although the Gunners managed to bag the three points with a 2-1 victory, it was the Armenia international that made plenty of headlines, for all the wrong reasons.
The former Manchester United man lost the ball on many occasions, while his shot accuracy was also far off – with most of his attempts flying high over the bar and into the Bournemouth stands.
Unai Emery started Mkhitaryan on the right-wing and surprisingly left Mesut Ozil on the bench as he opted for a back-three due to a significant amount of injuries.
That decision, despite the result, wasn’t universally accepted as the right one, and with good reason. Mkhitaryan looked a level below many of his teammates, and many fans online have made their voices heard.
