Arsenal fans on Twitter welcome back Laurent Koscielny

Arsenal club-captain Laurent Koscielny played his first football match since that horrible ankle injury in the Europa League semifinal against Atletico Madrid in May, when he started for the Arsenal u23’s on Monday evening.

The 33-year-old, who has been taking part in full training with the Arsenal first-team in recent weeks, got 45 minutes under the belt against Derby County u23’s, before he was taken off by Freddie Ljungberg as a precaution.

The Arsenal u23’s suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat, mainly due to two red cards, but Koscielny left the pitch when the score was only 1-0.

First-team manager Unai Emery confirmed recently that the Frenchman is close to a return after making a successful recovery from the injury which ruled him out of the summer’s World Cup and the start of Arsenal’s season.

Gunners supporters are excited to see one of their most experienced players back in the starting eleven, and they will feel he can have a major influence on the new look Arsenal team following his return.
