Arsenal: Fans rave as Florent Sinama-Pongolle says Santi Cazorla is more talented than Steve Gerrard

Many Arsenal fans are raving after former Liverpool player Florent Sinama-Pongolle told The Athletic UK (via LTArsenal) that ex-Gunner Santi Cazorla is more talented than Steven Gerrard.

Comparing the Rangers manager’s last Premier League season to that of the 35-year old, Cazorla provided 10 more assists and also averaged more key passes, crosses and through balls, according to Whoscored.

Perhaps the comparison is unfair given that the former England international was playing in the latter stages of his tenure at the Reds when Cazorla was emerging at the Emirates, but it does exemplify the midfielder’s talent. However, Gerrard will still arguably be remembered as one of the Premier League’s all-time greatest ever players, despite never getting his hands on the league trophy.

Nevertheless, Cazorla grew into a fan favourite at the north London club, and this is backed up by his stats over the course of his Arsenal career. The Spanish international featured in 180 matches for the club, scoring 29 goals and making 45 assists, as per Transfermarkt.
