Yesterday saw Arsenal confirm that Emiliano Martinez would be spending the second half of the season on loan at Reading. The club announced this on the Arsenal website, and the fans are all desperate to see the Argentine impress whilst in the Championship so he can come back and become the club’s second choice ‘keeper next season.

Martinez is always going to struggle to get game time whilst with Arsenal in the current situation. The goalkeeping department at The Emirates is well accounted for, with Bernd Leno the undisputed number one choice, and Petr Cech the club’s reliable backup plan for the cup competitions. However, with Cech retiring at the end of the season, giving Martinez game time at Reading is a smart choice,
When the Argentine returns to the club, the chances are the Gunners will make him their second choice ‘keeper as Cech moves on to the next stage of his career. The Gunners would hate it if Unai Emery brings in a new ‘keeper over the summer, and they all have complete faith in the 26-year-old to impress whilst at the Madjeski Stadium and return stronger than ever to shine as Leno’s backup next season.

I really rate Martinez, never puts a foot wrong, always has time for fans after games and he’s stuck by arsenal. I genuinely think he’s good competition for Leno, now is he’s chance!
