Some Arsenal fans think Pablo Mari is ‘better than Virgil Van Dijk’ after his recent performances against Portsmouth and West Ham United have caught the eye of some supporters.
Mari featured in the team of the round on Sofascore for the FA Cup 5th fixtures, scoring an impressive 8 rating on his debut and then followed it up with a 7.2 rating against the Hammers in the Premier League, where he made the most clearances (8).
In that time, Van Dijk managed a 7.1 Sofascore rating in the FA Cup loss to Chelsea and an 8 rating against Bournemouth in the Premier League. Interestingly, he did not manage a tackle in either game despite the positive result in the latter game. Obviously, this may be somewhat tongue in cheek given the fact the Dutchman has won countless awards since moving to Anfield as the Reds conquered all before them.

Nevertheless, jokingly or not, some Arsenal fans say the Spanish centre-back is ‘better than Van Dijk’ based off of what they have seen so far, with one fan even telling Twitter to ‘behave’ if they suggested that the Liverpool ace is ‘up to Mari’s level’:
