Plenty of Arsenal fans took to Twitter to voice their unhappiness at the form of Alexandre Lacazette as his barren spell in front of goal continued today.
The France striker is now without a goal in his last seven appearances in all competitions for the Gunners following this afternoon’s 1-1 draw at home to Sheffield United and he was the only player to be substituted by Mikel Arteta against the Blades, with Eddie Nketiah taking his place in the 74th minute.
Lacazette has not scored in the Premier League since the defeat to Brighton in early December and he endured another frustrating afternoon at the Emirates Stadium today, managing just one shot and failing to hit the target. His total of 25 touches was the fewest among the Arsenal starting XI and he had little impact up front as the Gunners had to make do without the suspended Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Josh Sippie of paininthearsenal.com delivered a damning verdict on the 28-year-old’s display, writing: “You could be forgiven for not knowing he was out there. Honestly, when he was subbed out, I had so few notes on his performance that I’m not wondering if I missed something. Just wasn’t his match. Hasn’t been for awhile.”
These Arsenal fans on Twitter were also lamenting Lacazette’s performance as his struggles in front of goal continue:
Laca worst player on the pitch today.
