Arsenal fans were full of good wishes for Konstantinos Mavropanos after the central defender secured a loan move away for the rest of the season.
The Greece youth international has joined Bundesliga 2. club Nuremberg for the remainder of the campaign after a less than spectacular opening half to the year. Mavropanos appeared in just one first-team game for the Gunners, the 2-2 draw away to Standard Liege in the Europa League (via Transfermarkt).
The news means the north London outfit are left with just four recognised, fit, central defenders in the squad, Rob Holding, Sokratis, David Luiz and Shkodran Mustafi. However, with the German reportedly looking for clarification over his future, Mikel Arteta’s side could well be forced to make a signing this month.
However, the Spaniard was less than assured about making a move in this transfer window as he claimed he is ‘not expecting many things’ (via talkSPORT).
Fans were left congratulating the 22-year-old after he secured a season-long loan move away from the club as they took to Twitter to react. Here is a selection of tweets from the north London faithful:
