Spurs fans here inside the Football Transfer Tavern are loving life, especially after their 6-0 demolition job over Millwall in the FA Cup on Sunday.
Though, the day did not all go to plan, with Spurs’ pivotal striker Harry Kane suffering an ankle injury during the match, which now looks pretty serious.
A handful of Tottenham fans over by the jukebox here in the Tavern are still laying into Pochettino for selecting the England striker for the match against the League One side, with them all agreeing that Vincent Janssen should have been handed a start.
Our landlord has been scanning over the papers this morning, and has found a column in the Sun from Arsenal legend Ian Wright, who claims that the north London side will seriously struggle to maintain a top four spot with Kane out injured,
Wrightey said to the Sun: “I can’t stress enough how different Spurs are when Kane is not leading their attack,”
“The obvious starting point is where the goals are going to come from.
“I reckon Tottenham have got a battle on their hands to just guarantee a top-four finish. That’s how massive the loss of Harry Kane will be to them. That’s how much I believe they will struggle to cope without him.”
A large proportion of the punters here in the Tavern find it hard to agree with Wright’s comments, and feel that Pochettino has enough quality at his disposal to deal with the loss of Harry Kane.
As our landlord quips, it’s time for Janssen and Son to really step up at White Hart Lane.
