Arsenal and Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are informed by the Daily Star that Real Madrid have offered them Fabio Coentrao after Manchester United dropped their interest in the Portuguese international.
The 26-year-old left back has bags of experience and still has many years ahead of him, which to punters in the bar, made him an appealing target for the Red Devils.
But Louis van Gaal’s interest in the defender has eased off and Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers are also set to snub the former Benfica defender.
Both Premier League managers believe Los Blancos’ price tag of £25 million is way too much and its reported that the duo would only renew their interest should this figure fall.
Not only is the fee a stumbling block but also the large wages he currently earns at the Bernabeu and with both clubs not really crying out for an extra full back at the moment, it will be hard for Madrid to force a deal through.
