Arsenal pursuing world-class strikers, Wenger situation scuppering deals

Just when we thought “Wenger Out” chants were subsiding in the Transfer Tavern, reports from The Times have flooded in and angered Arsenal supporters who are very much against ‘Le Prof’ nowadays.

The Gunners are supposedly targeting ‘world-class’ strikers as they bid to move up to the next level for 2017/18, but it’s alleged that their attempts to initiate deals for various players are being cut off early due to the uncertainty surrounding the managerial position at the club.

Indeed, Arsene Wenger’s future is up in the air right now, with the Frenchman’s current contract due to expire at the end of the season.

There have been reports from the reliable BBC Sport that a fresh deal for him is in place should he want to commit to the club, but the likes of the Daily Mail have speculated that a number of bosses are being lined up to replace the veteran gaffer.

And The Times state that this uncertainty is putting off representatives of players they are looking at, although the identities of these superstars are not revealed.

It’s understood that Arsenal have been told to return to these various European targets when they know who will be in charge next season, putting even more of an emphasis on sorting the mess behind the scenes out at the Emirates Stadium.
