Arsenal have completed the signing of Brentford captain Christian Norgaard for an initial fee of £10million with a further £5million in add-ons. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that all documents were signed and exchanged between Arsenal and Brentford last week, while the player has already completed his medical and signed his contract.
Official statement from Arsenal is believed to be imminent following the announcements of the club’s first two summer signings, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi.
Romano also noted that Arsenal is “waiting” for Viktor Gyokores – a comment that is sure to please Gunners faithful world wide as a striker is known to be top of the wish list in North London. Reports have circulated about Arsenal entering advanced negotiations with Sporting for the player – who is keen and has made every effort possible to push through the move.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is reportedly pushing for the club to secure their key signings in time for their departure to Singapore and Hong Kong on July 19th for pre-season.
Norgaard becomes Arsenal’s third summer signing

News broke of Arsenal’s interest in the player in late June, when it was revealed that Thomas Partey would not be signing a new deal at the club. Arsenal moved quickly to bid €11million for Norgaard which was rejected by Brentford.
Negotiations continued and an agreement has now been reached for the Denmark international to move to North London. Norgaard was a mainstay in the Brentford side after joining from Fiorentina in 2019.
He’s made 196 appearances for the Bees, scoring 13 goals and providing 18 assists. He was a crucial part of the side that won promotion to the Premier League in 2021, and remained a key cog for then manager Thomas Frank as Brentford established themselves in England’s top flight.
He’s won the most interceptions of any player since his Premier League debut in 2021 with 201. He ranks second in recoveries and third in tackles won during that time period.
He became Brentford captain in 2023, and last season enjoyed his most productive campaign in front of goal scoring five Premier League goals and providing four assists.
Arsenal fans will be glad to hear that Norgaard has seemingly snubbed a move to Tottenham, where his former manager Thomas Frank is now in charge. He was tipped to follow his old boss but instead has joined bitter rivals Arsenal.
Norgaard is expected play a supporting role behind fellow new signing Martin Zubimendi who joined Arsenal from Real Sociedad this summer.
