Arsenal: Some fans slate Bernd Leno after birthday post

Some Arsenal fans have slated Bernd Leno on his birthday. The German has turned 28 today but would not be happy with a few ‘gifts’ fans have left him on Twitter.

Some Arsenal fans are evidently still salty about their Europa League exit to Greek champions Olympiacos and they have taken an opportunity to express their dismay at Leno, with one fan sarcastically saying ‘thanks for crashing us out’. The goalkeeper failed to clear his lines in the dying moments of the second leg and instead gave away a corner that lead to Olympiacos scoring their second goal of the night (BT Sport).

That meant the tie was level 2-2 on aggregate, but the Greek side went through on away goals. The Gunners now only have one route to get into the Champions League this season, where they must finish in either the top four or five places in the Premier League depending on Manchester City’s situation. They currently sit ninth, five points off fifth-placed Manchester United (BBC Sport).
