Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are encouraged by the recent rumour in the Daily Star which suggests they will mount a bid to blow Tottenham out of the water with a bid for Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin.

Tottenham have been relentlessly linked with the Frenchman in the build-up to the January transfer window but the Gunners are prepared to come in at the last minute with a huge bid.

The 25-year-old’s long-term future at St Mary’s was originally in doubt after he took to Twitter to voice his anger at the summer exodus which saw Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw, Calum Chambers and Dejan Lovren depart the club.

But despite being influential in their bright start to the season, he is still not content and it has looked inevitable that he will join up with his former boss Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs.

But despite the odds being in Tottenham’s favour, reports suggest that they are scared of being gazumped by their fierce North London rivals.
