Arsenal turn down substantial bid from PL rival for star

Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are watching on with sheer intrigue right now as the transfer window comes to a shut later on tonight.

It’s been a pretty poor start to the season for the men from the Emirates but the club is still more than capable of turning things around if this Deadline Day goes the right way for them.

For sure, then, things are going to be pretty interesting for the club until the deadline passes tonight and the latest bit of news surrounding the club is that a bid for Calum Chambers has been rejected with it coming from Leicester City.

Indeed, Rob Dorsett has revealed the news on Twitter with the rejected deal worth a pretty substantial £20 million for a player who has not yet hit the heights with the Gunners:

Of course, he is still a young player and so he could still make it for Arsenal – that would be why the club is looking set to keep him – but he could also fancy a move away as he’s more likely to get minutes at the Foxes this season.

It remains to be seen, then, as to what happens next.

Landlord’s Verdict

Chambers is a promising young player and would surely like to be playing more minutes than he is at Arsenal at the moment.

The bid has been rejected, though, and so now it remains to be seen if the Gunners start playing him more or if the Foxes decide to up their bid for him.
