Arsene Told To Sign £35M Match Winner From Napoli

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has called on Arsene Wenger to sign the man they call ‘El Matador’ – Napoli’s Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguayan has been a sensation for club and country ever since he moved from Palermo to Napoli in June 2010, where he has scored 42 goals in just 61 appearances for the Naples side.

On the other hand, Arsenal are on a hunt for a striker who would be able to ease the pressure off Robin van persie’s shoulders. There has simply been too much expectation placed on Van persie and many Arsenal fans believe the time is right to bring in a partner for the Dutchman.

In a recent interview given by Ian Wright, the former Gunner had this to say:

‘Without a top-class attacker alongside Robin van Persie, Arsenal are only one injury away from everything blowing up in their faces.’

The Arsenal legend has recommended none other than the 24-year-old Uruguayan forward, who has been working wonders under coach Walter Mazzari:

‘That’s why I think Arsene MUST bid for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani — El Matador — if there is any chance of tempting him from Italy next month.

‘Cavani is a kind of a player who is known to create a fantastic aura around the team and is a player, who gives the defenders a run for the money.

‘He’s the type defenders hate playing against, always on the move, always looking for the right run, always a threat.’

So should Wenger sign him? If yes, then another question must be asked before the former and that is – does he have the resources to? Many would say yes on both counts, but there are two problems Wenger may face. One is that Cavani is deeply attached to the club and its supporters. Secondly, if Cavani decides to leave Napoli then there will undoubtedly be at least 5-6 top European clubs vying for his signature.

Another problem for Arsenal would be the fee. Cavani would easily cost at least £35 million, which is an amount Arsene has never spent in his life. For that matter, the main stalwarts Arteta, Mertesacker and Santos were bought for a combined amount £25 million.

However, If Wenger manages to break the bank and sign Edinson, it would prove to be one of the finest signings made by the French tactician in his time as Arsenal manager. Cavani is a match winner and can certainly aid RVP upfront. Not only can he score goals, he is also known to create a few as well.

Napoli would certainly not want to sell him and most of the top-clubs wouldn’t try and sign him in January as he would be cup-tied for the Champions League. However, the summer is just six months away, so expect to see something occur during that time.

Well now, when it comes to football, one man has for many years been the most noticeable, the most controversial, and occasionally the most successful blogger this country has ever produced. His pithy words and abrasive style make him as famous off the pitch as he is on it. This man is Escapini. "I love football. Football she's a cruel mistress. She's, she's more than a mistress. She's a wife, she's a mother, she's a daughter, she's an errant child. She's a… she's a… she can make you laugh, she make you cry. She can bring tears me eyes. She can bring blood to me shoulders. She can bring a kettle to the boil." "Cause football is about nothing, unless it's about something and what it is about, is football."
