Aston Villa: Gregg Evans shares Boubacar Kamara update

Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara will miss a month of action after suffering an ankle injury against Crystal Palace on Saturday, Gregg Evans reports.

The Lowdown: Win comes at a cost

Unai Emery‘s side picked up three points on Saturday against Crystal Palace as they continue their push for a top-half finish in the Premier League.

However, it wasn’t all positive at Villa Park, with Kamara forced off just before the hour mark. Ashley Preece initially reported that it was a problem with the tibialis anterior muscle, the muscle by your shin bone, but Evans has provided a further update.

The Latest: Evans’ update

Evans, Villa’s correspondent for The Athletic, took to Twitter to share an update on Kamara.

He said that the player looks set to miss five of the remaining 13 Premier League games with an ankle injury, describing it as ‘a blow for Villa’.

The Verdict: Bad news

Kamara, hailed as ‘excellent’ by former manager Steven Gerrard, has enjoyed a positive first campaign in the Premier League, so this news isn’t ideal for anyone associated with the club.

The Frenchman has been Villa’s fifth-best performer in the top flight, as per WhoScored, making more tackles per 90 than any of his teammates.

He also ranks highly for passes and interceptions made each game, so his absence could leave a big void in Emery’s side.

Versatile defender Calum Chambers was actually brought on for Kamara on Saturday, so it’ll be interesting to see what Emery does without the midfielder over the coming weeks.
