Aston Villa are now weighing up a bid for Real Betis’ Luiz Henrique after making an enquiry for the player earlier in the week, according to The Daily Mail.

The Lowdown: Two in...

Villa could well be busy in the final days of the January transfer window despite already signing Alex Moreno and Jhon Duran. Another addition in the final third could be on the cards after Danny Ings left for West Ham, with Henrique emerging as a target.

The Brazilian is primarily a winger and is thought to be an alternative target to Nico Williams, with Villa failing in their attempts to sign the Atletico Bilbao forward.

Unai Emery reportedly wants another winger and out-and-out striker before next week's deadline, and it appears he may be making progress on the former.

The Latest: Bid being considered

The Daily Mail's Tom Collomosse shared an update on Villa and Henrique on Wednesday.

The reporter said that Emery is desperate to sign a wide forward and is weighing up a move for the Betis man after making the initial approach.

The 22-year-old is regarded as a huge talent, but is valued at £44m by the Spanish side.

The Verdict: Record move?

Unless Betis significantly reduce their asking price it looks as if NSWE will need to break their club record to sign Henrique, labelled as 'fantastic' by reporter Graham Hunter, in the final days of the winter window.

Reports prior to the New Year suggested that Emery was to be handed a huge transfer budget, with big sums on individual signings. They appear to have their chance to do just that with Henrique, so this could be one to keep an eye on over the coming days.
