The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern now couldn’t imagine life without Jose Mourinho but losing him might now be the worst thing.
Jose Mourinho has saved Manchester United ever since he became their manager in 2016.
The Red Devils have had their worst spell in recent memory ever since the retirement of Alex Ferguson but the Portuguese manager has finally brought back entertaining football to Old Trafford which has, in turn, brought back trophies.
The former Chelsea boss won the League Cup and the Europa League in his first season in Manchester.
Mourinho is contracted to the famous club until June of 2019 and given his history, it is surely likely that he will move on come to the end of the contract rather than renew it.
The 54-year-old tends to move on to new and fresh challenges after a certain amount of time at one club.
He doesn’t like to stick around for too long and that isn’t necessarily going to be a bad thing for the Red Devils.
On that note, here are three reasons why Man United should let Jose Mourinho’s contract expire.
He’ll probably leave soon anyway
As previously mentioned, Jose Mourinho doesn’t like to stick around.
So, even if United tried to open contract negotiations with their manager there is no saying he would even want to.
Man U aren’t the sort of club who would like to hear no and it would make national news if he did reject them.
There are other managers out there, Mourinho could just be treated as a transitional boss to help them during this tough time.
He likes to spend big
Obviously, the club sanctions the transfers that Mourinho makes, they would probably like to calm down on the amount of money that has been spent since Mourinho arrived.
Under Ferguson, United prided themselves on creating young talent rather than spending a fortune on their players.
Under Mourinho, they have spent a lot of money and whilst that is the world we live in nowadays, it isn’t traditionally what United do.
He isn’t the most media friendly
As good of a manager that Jose Mourinho is, he isn’t always the most media friendly.
That is a big part of being a manager especially for a club like Manchester United.
Getting in a manager whom the media would like isn’t going to help them in the league, but it makes United look better as a brand.
