Tottenham and Everton’s 1-1 draw at Goodison Park was unfortunately overshadowed by the horrific injury to Andre Gomes.

An out-of-character rash challenge from Spurs forward Son Heung-min led to the Toffees midfielder landing awkwardly on his ankle, where it has since been confirmed that he suffered a fracture-dislocation to it late-on in the second-half.

Gomes was quickly rushed to hospital and will undergo surgery today, but is now set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines as he recovers.
The former Barcelona man, who spent last season on loan with Everton before joining the club permanently in the summer, is a pivotal figure in Marcos Silva’s midfield, starting seven matches for the club in the Premier League this term (via Transfermarkt).
His absence will be a miss to the Toffees, who sit dangerously close to the relegation zone as things stand.
Following the game, Everton boss Marcos Silva provided an update on the midfielder’s welfare on social media, to which his former club, Barcelona, quote Tweeted it and wished their ex-player best wishes.
Fans of the Spanish club were also quick to offer their condolences to the Portugal international. Some, however, hijacked the post by placing blame on the shoulders of unwanted manager Ernesto Valverde…
All Valverde’s fault #ValverdeOUT
