Barcelona lining up Argentina hero Bolatti

bolatti-huracanBarcelona based sports daily Sport is reporting that the European champions are lining up a January move for Argentinean international Mario Bolatti, famous these days as the man who scored the crucial goal for Argentina to qualify for the World Cup. 24-year-old Bolatti is contracted to Porto but is on loan back in his homeland at Huracan, yet Barca believe the former Belgrano man has enough talent to come in and boost their squad.

Bolatti operates mainly as a defensive midfielder so would provide competition for Sergi Busquets when Yaya Toure and Seydou Keita leave for the African Cup of Nations. This is clearly believed to be a problem for Barca as the Spanish giants are being linked with a host of defensive midfielders for the upcoming transfer window with Bolatti the latest name in the frame.

Although he made little impact in his spell in Portugal last year, Bolatti has been a standout performer in the latest Argentine Clausura and was a crucial player for Huracan as they maintained an unlikely title bid. This form led to his international bow and he proved to be a useful addition to Diego Maradona’s squad as he scored the all important goal on his third international appearance to put Argentina through with a 1 – 0 win over Uruguay.
