Speaking before Barcelona’s visit to Manchester City in the Champions League and quoted by The Mirror, the Catalan’s midfielder Ivan Rakitic has suggested that he would like to play for current City manager Pep Guardiola, sending our resident Citizens into a frenzy.
The Croatian is a mainstay in the Barcelona midfielder and is expected to start at the Etihad as the La Liga outfit look to beat the Premier League side once again in the group stages.
City were taken apart earlier in the competition 4-0 at the Nou Camp but for the former Sevilla man, he would still like to play under Guardiola at some point in his career, but did not say where that could happen.
“When I took the No.4 jersey it was purely because of him. It was a great opportunity. I took it with both hands. He was one of the best in the world”, said the former Sevilla man.
”Your team-mates tell you all about him. I hope he is really successful in the future after tomorrow. It would be great to play for him one day and if not, I’ll invite him for a coffee.”
The Blaugrana will qualify if they beat City as they are currently five points clear at the top of the group as they go in search of another Champions League title.
City, meanwhile, are just a point clear of Borussia Monchengladbach and will be looking for a better performance than the one they put in in Spain.
